Russian railway statistics: decline without collapse The apocalyptic predictions of experts have not yet come true. In annual terms, loading dynamics only slightly worsened: -1.4%, up to 95.6 million tons at the end of October; -0.8%, up to 920 million tons for the months January-October. In September, we will recall, the decrease was 1.2%. On the other hand, loading in October increased significantly compared to September, when only 90.3 million tons were loaded. Hard coal loading in January-October increased by 1.6% to 273 million tons. During the nine months, the dynamics of coal was considerably better (+2.3%, 245.9 million tons). In October it turns out that 27.1 million tons of coal were shipped. Cereals are especially interesting now. According to which, in the months of January-October it remained a solid plus (+34.7%, 27.4 million tons). But here too, based on nine-month results, everything was much better (+42.2%, 23.9 million tons). Although, considering the shutdown of the southern ports, 3.5 million tons per month is not so bad. The best dynamics in October were shown by coke (+21.1%) and scrap metal (+22.5%). Meanwhile, cargo turnover continues to grow: +2.5%, 218.3 billion ton-km in October; +1.1%, 2 trillion 86.3 billion ton-km for January-October. In general, it could have been worse. Apparently, the early rate increase has not yet led to a new wave of cargo departures from Russian railways. Perhaps, in the southern ports, everything is no longer as hopeless as it seemed recently.
