The rally is in question: logisticians doubt the scope of sales The traditional takeoff before the new year always supports the cargo transport market, especially the car market. However, this year may be atypical due to a series of warehouse entries and the resulting chain of changes. Data Insight lead analyst Sergey Samko believes that November sales this year will be weaker than usual. Vasili Bomgin, a board member of the Union of Market Sellers (SPM), told Forbes Russia more about the reasons: many sellers, left without goods, had to suspend purchases to figure out how to continue working. At the same time, goods and raw materials from China for November sales should have been shipped in late August or early September, with the situation in warehouses remaining unclear. Some logistics companies also note a decrease in activity during this period. The CEO of Byte Transit, Alexey Spikelman, talks about a decrease in traffic in August by 7% by weight and 4% by volume. And the deputy general manager of the 3PL operator NC Logistic Artem Vaskanyan doubts even the traditional rally in December: considering that the traditional rush in the sales period before the New Year is not yet expected, we assume a decrease in transport volumes by 8-10% from year to year in the last months before Rosh Hashanah. At the same time, the dynamics of point-to-point transportation so far repeats the picture of previous years: the ATI index, which shows average fares in a hundred popular destinations, flew in late August - early September and set a new historical maximum (2,443 points) on September 4. After that it decreased slightly and recently remained stable (+1.6% per month and +1.8% over three months). The Atrex index, which shows the ratio of cargo to free transport, fell from 82 points (acute shortage of cars) on August 31 to a moderate 49 points now. This is not the limit - in previous years the index in October - November often fell below zero.
