The United States is considering turning an abandoned test site in the Pacific Ocean into a test site for missile delivery. The US Space Force plans to use Johnston Atoll, located southwest of Hawaii, for tests as part of the Vanguard rocket program. The atoll, previously used for nuclear testing and the storage and destruction of chemical weapons, may be home to two missile landing facilities. Their construction may begin as early as 2026. The purpose of the Vanguard cargo rocket program is to develop technologies for the rapid delivery of military cargo between distant points on Earth using rockets. © GOOGLE EARTH from space.
