In Moscow, the historic residential district closest to the Kremlin could be destroyed. A company associated with the great developer Sergei Mfedov has started the process of removing the protective status of three buildings on the embankment 150 meters from the Kremlin, Vorstaka has found out. The residents fear that an entire historic neighborhood is being prepared for demolition in order to build luxury residences. We are talking about the Zotov estate from the 18th century, which the authorities put under protection 10 years ago. Of the three buildings in the complex, only the apartment building is inhabited today - it is the residential building closest to the Kremlin. Majolica panels are painted on its walls, and at the beginning of the 20th century Boris Pasternak lived there. Residents of the building say that once the security is removed, the estate may be deemed unsafe and demolished for high-rise buildings. They just did a similar thing with two historic houses right across the street, on Volkonka Street. The developer S. of Padov destroyed or extensively restored more than one historical monument for the sake of luxury housing. His business partner, Artyom Dyumin, is the brother of his presidential aide Alexei Dyumin."
