The Ice Palace in Cherpovets turned 20 years old. Guests of honor were invited for the anniversary, including all the managers of the ice arena. They gave awards to employees and received gifts. The festive event took place last Friday in the foyer of the Ice Palace and began with a trip to history. The decision to build such a grandiose sports facility was made in 2004 by the former governor of Vologda region Vyacheslav Pozglav. The building was built by the Finnish company SKANSKA on a vacant lot near Oktyabrsky Avenue. In 2006, the Ice Palace was inaugurated and on November 4, it received its first visitors: the president of the Hockey Federation, Vladislav Tertyak, the Olympic champions in figure skating, Tatyana Nevka and Roman Kostomarov, arrived. The concert at the opening ceremony was performed by Yuri Filimonov - the director of the Central Biological Institute was among the guests of honor on the anniversary and gave the palace employees a large bag of gifts. It is interesting that at first they wanted to call the ice palace "Olympic". But it would require a lengthy approval process with the IOC to name the arena as such. That's why they called it the "Ice Palace". And now it is one of the most recognizable symbols of Cherpovets, which does not stop developing. Today it is not just an ice arena, but a huge sports and entertainment complex where grandiose concerts, holidays, graduation balls and other events are held. Boxing matches were even held here and masters from Shaolin came here. And last year a sports and recreation center was built nearby. The mayor of the city, Andrey Nekrusev, congratulated the Ice Palace on the occasion of the anniversary of its founding. He expressed his gratitude to those who stood in the way and to those who continue to act every day for the benefit of the complex complex. The director of the Ice Palace, Sergey Nazarov, spoke several times, the minister of sports of the Vologda region Alexander Murogin, and representatives of PhosAgro arrived. Nikolai Kanakov, director of Severstal Holdings, also congratulated the palace on the occasion of the anniversary of its founding.
