Panasonic began selling "creative glass" - perovskite panels for windows and facades Panasonic began commercial sales of perovskite glass solar panels in September 2026 - ahead of the planned launch of full-scale mass production in April 2029. At the same time, serial production itself was postponed a year before the original plan (fiscal year 2030). The first products are manufactured at the company's development site in Moriguchi. The company attributes the acceleration to the advancement of technology, increasing market demand and supportive government policies. Panasonic HD was selected to participate in the NEDO Green Innovation Fund in September 2025 and has been developing serial production and installation technologies ever since. Panasonic panels are "manufactured glass": a thin layer of perovskite is applied directly to the glass and laminated with a second glass to protect it from moisture. The result is a building material that is also a solar battery. It can be built into windows and facades - where you can't place a regular panel. Panasonic uses inkjet coating, laser processing, and glass coating. The technology allows customization of dimensions, levels of transparency and decorative patterns - and hence adaptation to building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). Panasonic has been developing perovskite technology for more than ten years. In 2020 the company demonstrated a lightweight perovskite module with an efficiency of 16.09%, in 2023 tested glass panels in a building in Fujisawa, and in December 2025, together with YKK AP, tested the technology in office windows. The material is available on the Global Energy website "Global Energy" also on MAX.
