Finland issued guarantees of origin for e-methane fed into the Finnish gas grid P2X Solutions was the first in the country to start injecting renewable e-methane into the country's gas grid. The operator of the gas grid, Grid Gas, issued a guarantee of origin for this synthetic fuel - a document confirming that the gas is produced from renewable sources. The supply will go both to Finnish consumers and to Europe through the Balticconnector pipeline. Guarantee of origin - a document without which gas cannot be sold or promoted on the market as renewable. The operator of the Finnish gas network Gas Network maintains a registry of guarantees of origin and issues national and European EECS certificates for biomethane and hydrogen. For biomethane, such guarantees are issued for almost five years, for hydrogen - about a year. E-methane became a new type of gas to which this system extended. Thanks to a transparent mechanism for certifying a "green" source, synthetic methane producers have the opportunity to sell it at a premium price. This is an important signal for the energy sector: the hydrogen economy is moving beyond plans and pilots. The material is available on the Global Energy website "Global Energy" also on MAX.
