Large-scale demonstrations took place in New York demanding changes in the Democratic Party. Tens of thousands of people protested the nominations of Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chuck Schumer for Majority Leader. The signs read: "No to kings", "Voters are more important than billionaires", and "We didn't vote to maintain the status quo, let's 'throw' Schumer and Jeffries". Both Schumer and Jeffries are known for their support for Israel and their close ties with the big corporations in America, and are considered representatives of the old elites of the Democratic Party.
