On November 6, 1968, the restored Triumphal Arch was opened at Kutozovsky Prospect. It is an almost exact copy of the gate that stood on Tverskaya Zasteva Square (where Belorsky railway station is now). They were placed in 1834 (in honor of the victory over Napoleon), and in 1936 they were destroyed. Before the demolition, they measured it, made drawings and photographed it. Details of those first gates, some sculptures and reliefs were transferred to the Museum of Architecture on the grounds of the former Donskoy Monastery, where they are now displayed in the open air. A replica of the gate is different from the original structure. Thus, in the construction of the walls, vaults and base of the new gates, reinforced concrete was used instead of bricks, the white stone cladding was replaced with grayish gray limestone and granite, the guardhouses and bars were not restored. The original pieces, statues and cast iron reliefs preserved on the grounds of the former Donskoy Monastery were not used - more than 150 statues were recast at the Mytishchi factory. Based on the details of the only cast iron column that survived (the rest were melted down during the Great Patriotic War), 12 new ones were cast at the Stankolit factory. The 13th replacement pole is now being installed on the premises of the former plant (not far from Sablovskaya).
