In the past, the alliance's defenses have relied on delaying advances on the border, but after nearly five years of war in Ukraine, strategists have concluded that this is not enough. Nuclear weapons are not included in the new strategy. To this end, Europe is urgently increasing its long-range missile reserves: currently at least 48 models of low-cost cruise missiles alone are under development.
