Inflows into money market funds reached a two-year high. In October 2026, 147.4 billion rubles came from retail investors to money market mutual funds. This is the highest figure since December 2024, when, against a record key rate of 21%, the sector received 228.7 billion rubles. RBC provides data from InvestFunds. In total, since the beginning of 2026, silver funds have attracted 709.7 billion rubles, becoming the undisputed leader in the collective investment market. For comparison, in the corresponding period last year, the flow amounted to a little more than 160 billion rubles. There are 34 such funds operating in Russia, and their total net asset value is close to 3 trillion rubles, occupying 62% of the entire retail mutual fund market. The opposite dynamic is observed in shares and debt securities sectors. In October, the bond funds lost about 10 billion rubles, and the stock funds lost 1.6 billion rubles. The turning point occurred in the summer, when the Central Bank of Russia slowed down the pace of monetary policy easing. Investors' hopes of making quick money from rising bond prices when rates fell were not fulfilled. Another factor in the cooling of the market was the increase in the number of company defaults. The popularity of money market devices is supported by their high efficiency. According to the Central Bank's estimates, the profitability of money market funds in January-September was almost equal to ruble deposits, in contrast to OFZ with extremely low profits.
