Reddit is ending the era of the open web: you'll need an authorized account to view the platform. Most users will need to log in to use the platform's features. However, this is not going to completely close Reddit to non-registered visitors: the content will remain available through search engines and shared links. Only free viewing of individual communities without permission will be restricted. The company explains the decision with security issues: a significant part of unauthorized requests to the platform come from users without accounts. Testing of the new mode is planned to begin before the end of the year, and then gradually spread it around the world.
