The head of Slavyansky district, the nephew of the former mayor of Novorossiysk, was sent to a pre-trial detention center in a case of bribery from a funeral business. The preventive measure was chosen for two months - until December 31, 2026, the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory and the Joint Press Service of the Regional Courts reported. What do you charge? The official was charged under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted abuse of power) and part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale). According to the investigators, from January 2018 to March 2026, through intermediaries, the head of the district received at least 26 million rubles from the director of a private funeral home. The compensation was intended to provide a decree, which in fact gave the bureau an exclusive status in the burial market. The right to organize a burial was consolidated under the guise of agreements to improve the cemetery. Why a pre-trial detention center In justifying the need for detention, the court took into account the length of Siniagovski's work as a district head - he has been the head of the municipality since 2012 - and his authority among the administrative employees who are witnesses in the case. According to the court, this creates a risk of the disappearance or destruction of evidence as well as pressure on the participants in the criminal proceedings. Background checks The arrest was a development of a series of checks by the district administration. In February 2026, searches were conducted there in connection with a criminal case of fraud on lots. According to law enforcement authorities, eight plots of land with a total cadastral value of about 15 million rubles were registered as private property at discounted prices. The head of the district and the head of the financial relations department, Alexander Surkolt, were investigated for involvement in the affair. Mention by itself as part of an investigation does not mean charges have been filed.
