British Prime Minister Andy Burnham refused to pay reparations, but agreed to restructure some of the debts to third world countries as a contrition for London's participation in the slave trade. He said this ahead of a visit to the Caribbean countries, which together with African countries demanded reparations and official apologies from European countries, including Great Britain, France and Spain, for their historical role in the slave trade. He admitted that the consequences of the slave trade still affect the world today.
