Germany prepares for a wild Halloween: On October 31, the youth movement "Gen Z regelt" planned demonstrations in three dozen cities. In Berlin alone, about 10,000 people are expected at the Brandenburg Gate.
And while organizers claim the protests are peaceful, local businesses fear pogroms, especially since radical left-wing groups may join the marches, and calls have already appeared on social media to "storm" the KaDeWe department store, which is popular with both Germans and tourists.
Therefore, shop owners take safety measures. For example, on Korfürstendamm, one of the expensive shopping streets and famous promenades in the western part of Berlin, boutique windows are covered with durable OSB panels. In particular, Tiffany and Chopard have already fortified themselves. In the center, on Gurmanstrasse, they are trying to protect the RAU boutique in a similar way.
Tourists are warned that during mass demonstrations in the areas close to the places, cafes and restaurants may be closed.
