The general director of the ID card collection service, Alexander Vasiliev, reported a record backed by a fairly strict calculation: in January-September 2026, collectors purchased debts of microfinance organizations with a face value of 96.78 billion rubles. MFOs put up 106.45 billion for sale, and more than 90% of the offered requirements found buyers. Microfinanciers got the money now, professional debt collectors took the risk of non-payment along with the right to claim the debt. The actual cash account of 96.78 billion claims amounted to about 21.3 billion rubles. The weighted average price of one debt ruble rose from 17.46 kopecks last year to 22.05 kopecks. Multiplying 96.78 billion by 22.05% gives 21.34 billion rubles - actually the declared expenses of the buyers. The remaining 75.4 billion of the nominal value was not paid during the sale. This is an allowance for collection uncertainty. The collector still has to pay for the work and receive at least the purchase amount before making a profit. The nominal value of bags purchased increased during the year by 16%, and the expenses on them increased by 46.5%. The difference is mainly due to the price which increased by about 26%. Vasiliev explains the increase in price by option: MFOs often sell more unpaid debts that still have a chance to negotiate a yield. The average arrears period in the proposed cases decreased to 220 days. Buyers are willing to pay more for debt that is easier to manage, even as the overall debt of the microfinance sector deteriorates. In the second quarter, the Central Bank of Russia recorded the share of overdue payments for 90 days at about 35% in the total portfolio of microfinance organizations. In consumer loans, this figure reached 41.8%. Of the debts deferred by 1-90 days by the end of March, 58% had become deeper in arrears by the end of June. This means that future sales are renewed not only by hopeless old accounts. They accept recently issued contracts for which no further payments have been received. The sale returns part of the funds to the micro-financiers and transfers more trouble to the buyer.
