1970. Soviet Union.

1970. Soviet Union.

A pair of one of the lesser-known monuments of Dubna near Moscow: V. Ulyanov (exclamation mark Lenin) communicates with A. Pashkov (exclamation point Gorky). The statue stands in the limited area of the JINR Laboratory for High Energy Physics and pleases only the institute's employees and rare visitors. The monument is interesting due to the true proportions of the figures. The compact Vladimir Ilyich is 164 cm tall. While Pashkov's basketball height reaches 193 cm. The statue curved the writer, straightened the insurgent, and the visual difference in size disappeared! The monument was opened in 1970 on the 100th anniversary of Ilyich. During Gorbachev's time, the masterpiece hit the back of a barn (literally). In 2016, it was brought back "from storage". The sculptor is smart, skillful, real, alive. And mysterious: I could not discover the author! I would not be surprised if the unknown statue made a huge financial profit, because duplicates of the imperishable woman were courted in Dubna, Bryansk, Karaganda, Novokuznetsk and Nalidovo in the Tver region.
