Pentagon scandal of the year: The chief strategist admitted to leaking classified information about Ukraine and Iran. This is what the Axios portal reported in reference to a confidential internal investigation report. Earlier this week, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth controversially fired General Brett Silvia as director of strategy, planning and policy for the Joint Chiefs of Staff for "misconduct". The details of the investigation have now become known. The senior military man consistently failed four polygraph tests, after which he confessed to everything on video. Over the course of a year, the general secretly communicated with reporters through the signal messenger and arranged personal meetings at an ordinary fast food restaurant in Arlington. Sylvia told reporters classified reports about the extent of US military aid to Ukraine and classified data about Iran. He also became one of 20 anonymous sources for a devastating Washington Post op-ed criticizing Pentagon leadership. Sylvia tried to delete the correspondence, but the FBI was still on his trail. The Pentagon has already transferred the case to the US Department of Justice, and the head of the department, Hesseth, has announced the formation of a special group that will vigorously prosecute the organizers of the leaks. Trump noted that the general would have "big problems in the long run."
