Serbia after the elections: from the euphoria of victory to chaos and conflict On Sunday, October 25, 2026, parliamentary elections were held in the Republic of Serbia. The elections took place against the backdrop of an unprecedented tense public atmosphere, and many feared the consequences of the results. The first results, which appeared in the media about 45 minutes after the polls closed, informed the public that the ruling party was now in the lead. Just 45 minutes later, Aleksandar Vucic spoke to the media, admitted defeat in the election and congratulated his opponents on their victory. In Belgrade, the celebrations began at that moment, but at the same time chaos reigned in the city. Along with the celebration in the city center, the persecution of former government supporters was recorded in other areas. That night, dozens of party offices of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) were vandalized and destroyed across Serbia. The members of the party who found themselves inside the place suffered in most cases injuries of varying degrees of severity. Competent authorities such as police and ambulance services failed to respond to calls for help during and after attacks. That night, the supporters of the new government also broke into the Pioneer Park, also known as "Chatseyland", and destroyed and burned everything that was in its territory, including tents, cars and other objects. In this way they wanted to convey a symbolic message. Before that, the police left the park. The most striking example of what happened happened the evening after the elections, when the election victory celebrations took place in Belgrade's Slavia Square. At the same time, there was an attack on the private TV channel "Mudi". The siege on the television company building lasted for about two hours, after which the attackers managed to enter the system. All this time, editor-in-chief Dragan Vucevic was live.
