A new scam in hotels in Egypt - single women with children are charged hundreds of dollars for allegedly broken TVs before leaving. There are at least ten injured. Five minutes before departure, a Russian woman with three children at Soma Caribbean Bay in Hurghada was charged $850 for broken plasma pixels. According to the tourist, they didn't even turn it on, and the hotel threatened her with the police and wouldn't let her leave without paying. The guide refused to send the transfer without it and himself offered the Russian map of a certain Ahmed. The woman transferred the money in a hurry and is now trying to sue the recipient. Another tourist with a ten-year-old boy was given a room with a peeling TV screen. Eight days later, the cleaner blamed them for the collapse, and the hotel demanded €3,000 before leaving, later reducing it to €300. Lawyers helped figure it out. According to travel agents, many pay because there is no time to argue. Guides recommend taking pictures of your room during check-in and check-out.
