In 1884, a psychiatric hospital was opened near Tver - in the village of Borshvo. The clinic was built according to the model of the best foreign hospitals, there were no bars or punishment cells, and the patients were not tied with belts; Plays and films were shown on holidays (after 1895). The hospital was created by Sergey Korsakov, Vladimir Yakovenko, Pyotr Kashchenko and Mikhail Litvinov. And the younger brother of "Berzel Felix", Vladislav Edmondovich Dzerzhinsky, served there as a simple resident. In November 1941, the Nazis occupied the village and began killing patients en masse. To save patients from reprisals, the clinic staff led dozens of people into the forest. But the Nazis lured them back by simply ringing the bell that used to call the patients to dinner. In total they killed about 1,500 patients. Well, we remembered this clinic today because last week the remains of 19 people were discovered on its premises. To a large degree of probability these are the remains of mentally ill hospital patients who were killed by the Nazis.
