Norwegians being tricked into hiding gold in the forest, writes business publication E24 In Norway, banks are warning of a new fraud scheme reminiscent of the legend of Pinocchio. Only, instead of the promised money tree, the fraudsters offer to invest in gold and promise to keep it while it increases in price. The victim is convinced to buy bars or coins for a large amount and deposit them. An appointment is made for this purpose, but at the last minute a representative of a supposedly reliable company announces that he will not be able to come, and asks to leave the gold in the forest, in a park or even in a canal. Precious metal is taken by fraudsters. Such cases have already been recorded in several cities. Criminals choose physical gold because once it changes hands, banks can no longer track its movement. Sometimes the scheme starts with an offer to invest in cryptocurrency. If a person refuses, he is offered a supposedly more reliable option - gold.
