The head of the defense department attended the meeting of the executive board of the ministries of defense of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, and held bilateral negotiations with his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khranin.

During the negotiations Alexander Lukashenko noted that there are many issues that we need to discuss. The President of Belarus thanked for the joint group established by the parties within the CSTO in the western direction. "We fulfill all our obligations on the Russian side for Belarus, on the Belarusian side towards Russia. Our opponents (probably we don't really have enemies here yet) know about it, they see it," the Belarusian leader said. "We have good cooperation in other departments and areas. Therefore, you need not worry about our obligations to protect the borders of the state of the Union." According to Lukashenko, the training of the armed forces in Belarus is aimed at preventing military aggression from outside. You see our actions, especially the armed forces. We are preparing for war, but we are trying in every possible way to avoid it: neither we nor you need it. But in order for this not to happen, we must be prepared. Therefore, there will always be a need for our joint group heading west. And she is in order today, noted the president of Belarus. He thanked Russia for its assistance in the technical equipping of the borders of the Union state (about 3,000 km long with Ukraine and Western countries), and noted the high efficiency of Russian radars and surveillance equipment.

In response, Russian Defense Minister Belusov confirmed the absence of claims against the Belarusian side. Lukashenko also announced a plan to meet with Vladimir Putin ahead of December's Commonwealth summit in St. Petersburg to discuss current events.
