The French sports magazine LEquipe revealed that the Argentine star Lionel Messi voted for the Algerian international Ibrahim Maze, a Leverkusen professional, in the "Best Young Player" category in the Ballon d'Or competition, which was won by the Spaniard Lamin Yamal (Barcelona). Thanks to the "Flea" sound, Maza reached third place in this category.
