Egypt: journalist Lena Penllah, director of the independent platform from Mada Message, turned to trial

On Thursday, the Egyptian authorities referred the journalist Lina Attallah, the editor-in-chief of the independent website Mada Messer, to trial on the charge of running an electronic platform without a license, according to what the website itself announced, in a move that comes weeks after the arrest of the editorial team of the "Matzedesh" fact-finding platform. Human rights organizations believe that this lawsuit represents an unprecedented escalation against independent media in Egypt, at a time when 26 journalists are being detained for their professional work.
