Pyongyang announces tests of two types of strategic submarine-launched cruise missiles

North Korea announced on Thursday that it had tested two types of strategic cruise missiles designed to be launched from submarines towards the Sea of Japan, in order to verify the operational readiness of its undersea warfare systems. The test comes after a series of missile tests conducted by Pyongyang and Seoul, amid escalating tensions between the two countries since three South Korean soldiers were injured in a mine explosion in the demilitarized zone last month.
