UN: 109 migrants killed and 116 others missing after boat sinks off Djibouti coast
The UN's International Organization for Migration announced on Sunday that at least 109 migrants were killed and 116 others were missing after a boat sank off the coast of Djibouti on the night of October 8-9. The organization explained in a statement based on the testimonies of the survivors that the boat, which carried 350 people, sailed from Djibouti towards Yemen before capsizing north of the shores of the Djibouti city of Abouc, and noted that its crews are supporting the local authorities in providing emergency aid on the ground.
