Indian authorities shut down central New Delhi on Saturday, deployed thousands of police and military forces, cut off mobile internet services and closed metro stations and markets, in preparation for protests organized by youths demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration, called by the "cockroach protest movement", comes against the backdrop of an election review that deleted the names of approximately 130 million voters, something the ruling party and the committee deny.
