Trump announces an agreement with Putin to supply Russian diesel to the American and global market

United States President Donald Trump announced that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, has pledged to supply millions of tons of diesel fuel to the American and global markets in the coming months, in a move aimed at reducing fuel prices before the midterm congressional elections. The announcement provoked sharp criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who described the decision as "shameful" and reflecting "weakness" on the part of Washington, at the same time as the renewal of talks on ending the war in Ukraine.
