According to a strict law in Algeria: first death sentences were given in drug cases

The Criminal Court of the Algerian Judicial Council handed down death sentences against nine defendants in drug and psychotropic substance trafficking cases, in the first such verdicts issued under the revised Algerian anti-narcotics legislation. The Algerian Judicial Council said in a statement that the rulings involved three defendants in attendance and six others in absentia, according to the German news agency.
