Trump approves the execution of the 2009 Fort Hood attacker

More than 16 years after the Fort Hood attack in Texas, US President Donald Trump approved the execution by firing squad of Nidal Hassan, a former army psychiatrist convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 30 others. If the sentence is carried out, it will be the first execution carried out by the US military since 1961.
