Salam calls for maintaining an international presence in southern Lebanon after the end of the UNIFIL mission

The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Nawaf Salam, called for the continuation of an international presence under the umbrella of the United Nations in southern Lebanon after the end of UNIFIL's mandate at the end of 2026, and emphasized during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres in New York the need to avoid any vacuum and to ensure continued support for the state's and state's oversight missions.
