What is the nature and tasks of the new force that Lebanon seeks to deploy after the withdrawal of UNIFIL?

With the end of UNIFIL's mission in Lebanon approaching, and this country's efforts to deploy a force to replace it until its army is ready, explained Dr. Hassan Jouni, former Lebanese Brigadier General and Deputy Chief of Staff, told France 24 that there is a tendency to form an alternative force that will be multinational and based on France and Italy within the framework of a UN Security Council mandate that determines its work framework and powers. He also said that the documents collected by UNIFIL since its establishment should be transferred to alternative forces, which indicate the possibility of developing the idea of the blue line for an agreement on the international borders between the two sides, delimiting them and confirming them.
