The cost of olive oil has fallen and will continue to fall. In September, the retail prices of this product reached 146 thousand rubles. / kg, which is 11% lower than d/g (data from Rusprodsoyuz). In the metro, olive oil fell even more markedly: by 18% YoY in the 12 months to September 2026. The minimum price of a liter bottle of oil is now 430 rubles, a half-liter bottle of oil is 200 rubles (ACORT data). Global producer prices, which managed to double against the backdrop of unsuccessful 2022-2024 harvests, began to fall after last year's successful harvest. Russia has become more active in buying a cheaper product: in January-September, oil imports rose by 6% YoY to 19.3 thousand tons (data from the European Union). Price drops are gradual, as seaweed at a low price arrives in stores like the old stock seller. In the Greek legend, it is added that olive oil ceases to be a product for special occasions and is included in the Russians' constant diet. In the top ten of olive oil, Spain, in the 2026/27 season it is expected to increase production by 23% YoY to 1.6 million tons. Also, oil production will increase in Greece - by some estimates, up to 300,000 tons, a record since the 2022/2023 season. In Italy, the output, on the other hand, may decrease by 20% to 270-290 thousand tons due to a hot summer in the south of the country. Shares have already put pressure on prices not rising 4 / L € in Spain and 5 / L € in Italy. Growth in production may keep them low, but it will lead to financial problems for farmers and poorer harvests the following season. TM️ FMCG report on Telegram.
