Washington has extended until January 10, 2027 the suspension of rules limiting Chinese companies' access to American technology, Nikkei Asia reports. The decision was made as part of a trade freeze between the US and China ahead of the expected meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping at the APEC summit. The restrictions, which initially covered tens of thousands of subsidiaries of Chinese corporations, were frozen in October 2025 in exchange for Beijing's refusal to tighten controls on rare earth metal exports.
