Australia's oldest department store chain, David Jones, is under external management after negotiations with real estate firm Scentre Group to pay off debt broke down. The 188-year-old company, which has around 6,000 employees in 38 stores, is managed by McGarrett Nichols and FTI Consulting. They restructured the business and prepared the retailer for sale.
