Google has expanded the voluntary separation program with severance pay for workers in Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Switzerland, Reuters reports. The move is designed to optimize costs against the background of the corporation's large-scale investments in artificial intelligence. In the Swiss division, employees who agree to leave are paid one month's salary for each year of service, but no more than 12 months in total. Previously, similar plans were in effect for some workers in the US and UK.
