Hackers gained access to the control systems of European supermarket refrigerators, leading to massive food damage, the Wall Street Journal reports. In Germany, cell temperatures rose above 120 degrees Fahrenheit, and incidents also affected stores in Sweden, Belgium and six other countries. In October, a similar attack disabled the equipment of 700 French supermarkets. Attackers exploited vulnerabilities in Danfoss and Copeland controllers with outdated software or factory passwords.
