Walt Disney management has ordered executives to cut annual expenses by 20%, which could lead to thousands of layoffs, Bloomberg reports. The funds saved are planned to be reinvested in film and television production, technology as well as the development of theme parks and the cruise business. The company has already made large-scale cuts across its divisions in recent years amid falling traditional TV revenue and slowing subscription growth for streaming services.
