During the nine months of 2026, the number of accidents with electric scooters in Russia increased by 40% year-on-year, to 4,000 cases, Izvestia writes. The number of people killed in such accidents increased from 64 to 68 people, and in 90% of the cases they were the drivers themselves. Against the background of the increase in the accident rate, the authorities are considering restricting the movement of heavy and commercial electric scooters in pedestrian infrastructures, and the investigative committee previously proposed requiring users to obtain a driver's license.
