The People's Bank of China has moved to use overnight reverse repos as the primary guideline for monetary policy, Bloomberg reports. During the first meeting under the new mechanism, the regulator placed 541 billion yuan ($81.3 billion) at 1.25 percent, which, taking into account the repayment of previous contracts, led to a net withdrawal of 515 billion yuan from the banking system.
