There are 79 nuclear reactors under construction worldwide - this is the most since 1986, Nikkei Asia writes, citing figures from the World Nuclear Association. The increase in the number of projects is driven by demand for energy from artificial intelligence data centers and countries' desire for energy security due to high fossil fuel prices. The leader in the number of facilities under construction is China with 38 reactors, followed by India with eight and Russia with seven.
