In December 2026, the State Duma will discuss two bills expanding the regions' powers in the field of immigration, writes Izvastia. The initiatives will allow the regional authorities to initiate licensing procedures for the registration of foreigners in individual municipalities and to set restrictions on their work in specific sectors of the economy, regardless of whether the immigrants have a work permit.
