Polish authorities have removed the head of the Constitutional Court, Bogdan Swinczkowski, and his deputy, the Financial Times reports. Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the decision a necessary step to restore the rule of law - earlier, due to fear of the independence of the judicial system, the European Commission froze billions of Euros from the EU funds intended for Warsaw. The opposition Law and Justice party and the suspended judges themselves called the government's actions a "coup".
