The Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) has suspended settlements for copper and aluminum futures for delivery from duty-free warehouses, Bloomberg reports. The decision was made against the background of a decrease in interest from market participants in this mechanism, as well as a record increase in the copper import premium to China, which the day before exceeded $200 per ton. According to analysts, the measure is preventive in nature and aims to prevent metals from going abroad under conditions of atypically low reserves for this time of the year.
