The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation established a three-year statute of limitations for creditors demanding to recognize the bankrupt's debt as a joint obligation of the spouses, Kommersant writes. According to the Authority's explanation, this period begins to be taken into account from the moment the creditor learns of the violation of his rights, and not from the time the borrower was declared bankrupt. Recognizing the debt as joint turns the other spouse into a co-debtor, the debtor in obligations both in his share of the joint property and in personal assets.
