From the first quarter of 2027, the Central Bank of Russia will introduce macroprudential restrictions on the issuance of car loans for a period of more than seven years and non-targeted loans secured by a car for a period of more than five years, Frank Media reports. The regulator notes that increasing the loan period allows banks to artificially lower the borrower's debt burden. According to Central Bank data, the share of car loans for a period of more than seven years increased from 8% in the second quarter of 2022 to 26% in the second quarter of 2026.
