Bloomberg: In the first eight months of 2026, the countries most loyal to the US bought $174.3 billion of US Treasuries, which is 60% less than a year earlier. Japan, the largest foreign holder of US government debt, cut purchases by 99% to $389 million, and South Korea sold $23.8 billion worth of securities. Analysts attribute the trend to the weakening of national currencies, rising yields in local markets and the uncertainty of Washington's economic policy.
