Demand for mortgages in the Eurozone fell by 27% in the third quarter, Reuters reports, citing a survey by the European Central Bank. The decline was significantly stronger than the sector's expectations due to the rise in interest rates, a decline in consumer confidence and the deterioration of housing market prospects. According to the regulator, by the end of the year European banks plan to further tighten the standards for issuing all types of loans.
