India's state oil and gas companies, as part of tenders, have requested 83,000 tons of waste vegetable oil to produce environmentally friendly aviation fuel (SAF), reports Bloomberg. From 2027, the state government will mandate the use of 1% SAF on international flights to reduce dependence on oil imports, which account for about 90% of domestic consumption. According to analysts, by 2035, global demand for such biofuel will increase by 600%, to 14 million tons.
